This sampler is an excellent example of traditional red Bristol sampler from the late 1860s - 1870s.

Isabella Thatcher was born in Ireland. She came to live in the Muller Orphan Homes when her parents died. Her older sister Jane applied for her to be admitted into the orphanage. You can read her story as part of the chart and also on bristolsamplers.com. Her life made a difference for other orphans in The Homes.
